My dog Hank is almost four years old. When he was one year old he was playing with a good friend in a private yard on a dirt road on the bluffs of Lake Erie while I was inside doing dishes and Hank chased after a car and got struck from behind. I heard him yelping horribly and ran outside to find him spinning in the road like a top! He was pulling himself up with his front legs only. He was paralyzed for four months before being able to touch down with his hind left leg, and seven months before touching down with his hind right leg. His tail remains broken, his bladder is neurogenic and suffers urinary retention. His bladder is expressed four times daily and his bowel movements are slow, and occur while he relaxes in his sleep. I would like to help any other person who has gone through what me and my dog went through and be of any support to them. DSC04926 Kept the Hankster next to my bed in an infant crib on wheels and moved him room to room for several months to keep him from whining in the crate and crying. In the crib he relaxed and felt more part of our family and it normalized him after the trauma. 2 votes
